Dr. Erin Patterson started out as a veterinary assistant with our 24 HR team back in July of 2010. With a lot of hard work and determination she was accepted into the Veterinary Medicine program at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (University of Saskatchewan) in Saskatoon in 2013. Dr. Patterson has now rejoined us for the summer months as a veterinarian, having just graduated with her doctorate in the spring of 2017!! Dr. Patterson also has a BSc degree majoring in Chemistry from the University of Regina.
Future plans for Dr. Patterson include specializing in emergency medicine and continuing to volunteer both locally and abroad. In fact, Dr. Patterson will be beginning a critical care internship in Houston, Texas later this year. In the summer of 2015 Dr. Patterson volunteered with The Mad Dog Initiative, a non-profit organization that promotes wildlife conservation, animal welfare and human health through the care and management of feral dogs. Dr. Patterson and her fellow Mad Dog volunteers spayed and neutered in excess of 100 cats and dogs in/around a local village of Ranomafana, Madagascar.
Outside of work and her studies, Dr. Patterson loves to spend time with her orange haired tabby named “Captain Sushi” and her newest addition, a Staffordshire Terrier named “Zero”. She also enjoys soccer, weight lifting, running, horror movies and hot sauce.
